Connect a toolkit
Connect your toolkit to an MCP client and check skill availability.
Use a direct MCP connection to access your toolkit from an AI client.
Before you start: you need access to the toolkit, the toolkit must be enabled, and you need an MCP client. If a workspace toolkit is off, ask an admin or owner to enable it: members see its status but cannot change it.
Copy your connection
Open the installer
Go to Toolkits and select your toolkit. Click Connect agent, then pick your client. If your toolkit page shows Install instead, open it and choose Direct connection. For the shared connection URL, go to Connect: pick your client there, or click Copy beside Direct MCP URL under Popular if yours is not listed.
If Connect agent opens plugin options with no client list, that toolkit is already covered by Everything. Go to Connect and select your client. For a client that signs you in, choose Everything on the authorization screen. For a client that connects with an API key there is no authorization screen: leave the toolkit set to Everything in its setup steps.
Choose your client
Select your client for its connection instructions. If it is not listed, go to Connect and click Copy beside Direct MCP URL under Popular. Paste the copied URL into your client's MCP configuration.
Connect
Follow the displayed instructions in your client and sign in when prompted. For an existing direct connection, replace its URL with the newly copied URL and reconnect.
Your client can access the toolkit through the copied connection. If the connection uses the shared /mcp URL, your toolkit is chosen when you connect: on the authorization screen for a client that signs you in, or by the URL itself for a client that uses an API key. See Connect a toolkit view for Everything and selection changes.
A connection that includes skills carries your eligible published, MCP-enabled skills automatically. Resource delivery requires support from both your connection and client. Other clients can read skills through tools when the skill supports tool delivery. No exposure toggle is required for this connection.
Plugin installation and sync remain separate. Keep using your installed plugin to sync skill files to your client. Connecting the same toolkit both ways can make the same skills available twice.
Check a skill’s delivery
For connections that include skills, open your toolkit and look at Skills. There is no status column: a skill that is delivering normally shows nothing, and only a skill that needs attention gets a note under its name, usually with a link to fix it.
The notes you may see:
- Only reaches agents that support MCP resources: the skill is delivered, but as a resource only. Clients without resource support will not see it. Reduce the content size if you need tool delivery as well.
- Not delivered. Check that it’s published and MCP-enabled: follow Review skill and confirm both.
- No published content: follow Publish skill.
- Supporting file paths need repair or Package exceeds resource delivery limits: follow Review files.
- Frontmatter needs repair for resource delivery: follow Edit frontmatter.
- Content is too large for tool delivery: follow Reduce content.
If the check itself fails you get Couldn’t check delivery; click Try again. Notes appear only for members who can see toolkit diagnostics. Existing exposure controls still apply to plugins and older MCP connections.
